2021 Meek Blend Christmas Boxes were a huge success!

  1. The Salvation Army Angel Tree: Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning.  We were able to contribute to this great cause by purchasing Christmas gifts for a 5-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl (donated value: $125).
  2. Farm Stress Line – (Calls answered by the Mobile Crisis Services): This resource provides confidential crisis telephone counselling, support, information, and referral services. They respond to the needs of rural individuals and families living on a farm or in a rural community in Saskatchewan.  We are pleased to have been able to donate $500 to this non-profit organization.
  3. The Giving Tree (Adopt a Senior Program): We were able to ‘adopt’ two seniors this Christmas and provide them with a special gift bag of items they enjoy or wanted. We hope these brighten their day as much as it brightened ours (donated value $260)!
  4. Joseph’s Hospital / Foyer D’Youville Foundation: Gravelbourg is a community close to our hearts because of nursing, family, and friends. In lieu of the annual Festival of Trees/Gala, an online fundraiser is being held. Donations this year will go towards a bladder scanner, ceiling track lift, and a trauma stretcher.  We had the opportunity to donate $400 to help reach their goal.
  5. Dorie’s House Treatment Centre: this non-profit organization provides a safe and supportive living environment for youth. Here, they learn to build strong foundations that will carry them into their adulthood. This is through evidence-based treatment programming, skill-building, recreation, and connectivity with family and community. Dorie’s House promotes positive health and life choices for those most at risk in our community. We were honoured to be able to donate body wash and Walmart gift cards for 12 youths (donated value: $300).
  6. Southwest Crisis Services: Through safe shelter, the 24-hour crisis help line, supportive counselling, and prevent education, SWCS takes action to prevent and alleviate violence and abuse by empowering people of all ages and genders to be confident and knowledgeable about healthy relationships and have the capacity to thrive. We were honoured to be able to donate $250 to this much needed service.
  7. Root Cellar, Food and Wellness Hub: formerly known as the Medicine Hat & District Food Bank, has recently made a change in the way they deliver food to those in need. The goal of the Root Cellar is not to only feed people, but to also connect them to resources that will eliminate future food needs. “By addressing addiction, mental health issues, financial literacy, isolation, and cooking and budgeting skills – all in one place – the Root Cellar will allow the majority of its clients to graduate from its services permanently”.
We were thrilled to donate baby essentials such as diapers, wipes, and formula. We were also able to donate non-perishable breakfast and Christmas themed food items (donated value: $400).
  8. Southwest Chronic Disease Support: The SWCDS assist residents with expenses that were occurred due to chronic illness. The purpose of this organization is to provide a financial avenue to support these expenses. We donated $250 to this wonderful resource!

A huge thank you to those that purchased the boxes and to the 50+ businesses across southern Alberta and Saskatchewan who contributed to them!  Cheers to 2022!
